writing email addresses in transcripts

just curious how everyone else writes this... it's been a long time since i graduated from school and they didn't teach us these things back then.  I had an attorney ask a witness about a text message he sent that was forwarded to an email address.  (and this is just an example of what she said...)  "Q.  I see here your text was forwarded to D-J-O-N-E-S at McCabe Connors dot com."

the answer may be obvious, but does everyone else just put the obvious, djones@mccabeconnors.com or do u write it as i had it in my notes?  i know i may get the "we're verbatim reporters" response.  just curious.  thanks  :)

I think the actual email address djones@mccabeconners.com is better for ease of reading than the verbatim.  You're right, somebody will say we are verbatim reporters, but sometimes it makes it easier to read when we do it this way.

I do like Rosalie does.  I write the email address that way, too.  The same could be said if someone said one dollar and fifty cents.  I would write it $1.50, same thing, easier to read, and everyone understands it.  Writing out every word in these cases doesn't make any sense at all to me.  It would just be too confusing.

I agree with Rosalie and fstfngrs.  Readability.

Hi Kim,

I agree with Rosalie.

I added this stoke to my dictionary:  TKOM (dom) defined as {^.com}

which would come out delete space .com

and A*T defined as {@}

If I manage to do it correctly when I'm writing, and add the delete space before and after the A*T, it should translate as:

djones@mccabeconners.com.

I like that!! Always learning how to do things in a new way. Love this site.    -    fstfngrs 5/10/2012 10:34:19 AM | Flag
