I have an Elan Mira A3. My final S has been sticking. Took about 280pgs today with lots and lots of extra "ss" on sooo many words. Has anyone else had this problem with the Elan and if so is there something I can do?  It happened about a week ago on one job.  Then again today. Thanks in advance.

Try adjustimg the key contact for that key.  If that doesn't work, it may need new contacts; in other words, a service call.  If you go to this link, it shows you how to adjust your key contacts.  If everything else is to your liking, I would only adjust the Ssssssssssssssss.

I haven`t had the problem, but call Stenograph technical support - I`m sure it`s come up.

My Mira does that on several keys. Apparently they`re known for that. I was. Told it`s called shotgunning. Must be rampant if they actually have a nickname for it. When I had my writer serviced it improved quite a bit.

Do you have pads on your keys? One thought is that maybe one of your keypads has shifted slightly over and grabs the final S when you`re writing. It happened to me with my Stentura a few years ago, and I just pulled it off the keypad.

I think it sounds like your writer might need to be serviced. Things happen. We carry around our writers, knock them into things, put them in wheeled cases, bounce them up stairs and curbs. Stuff gets inside them too. Kellie`s idea of getting in touch with Stenograph is probably a good idea.
