12/1/2010 10:22:00 PM The restaurant Hooters. I looked it up and they spell it, H-o-o-t-e-r-s. So when they refer to their servers as Hooters girls, how would I write that? Hooters' girls? Hooters girls? What say ye? You know how you look at something so long, you're just incredibly confused -- well, that's where I am. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!! |

I would say Hooters' girls, because Hooters is already plural, and in this case the girls are belonging to Hooters, so it's possessive. That's what I see when I first look at it, anyway. Good luck! |

i agree - smreed 12/3/2010 1:03:25 PM | FlagI think I disagree. I think Hoooters girls is correct. You wouldn't add an S to the Burger King girls, so it should be Hooters girls. - bridgetbag 12/4/2010 12:54:13 AM | FlagThat's true, I didn't think about that. I change my answer. :) - tojessielove 12/4/2010 2:19:26 PM | FlagIf it indicates possession of the girls Hooters girls is not correct. You cannot refer to Hooters as plural because it is singular in the sense that it is one company. As far as how it Hooters in the possessive form should be written or pronounced I am not a competent person to answer that but definitely there has to be an apostrophe at least somewhere if the purpose is to indicate possession. - Fel Younghusband 8/8/2012 12:16:45 AM | FlagIf it indicates possession of the girls by Hooters, Hooters girls is not correct. Hooters girls. Hooters describes the girls, doesn't possess the girls. :) |

Oh no, we are so split on which it could be. I already sent the transcript out with Hooters' girls. Again I say, oh no. |

I found this on the Web: www.prnewsire.com Columbus Hooters Girl Visits Troops in Iraq & Kuwait --... Dec. 3, 2010... "The Hooters Girls will reach thousands of military personnel," etc. This solves the singular and the plural aspect of this question!

Okay, I'm a tad late to this party, but I'd have to agree that no apostrophe would be needed because they're simply identifying the girl as being Hooters girls.
One interesting question, though: If any of them only had one hooter, would it make a difference? :-p |

| Kelly Reiter Hooters girls, because Hooters does not possess the girls. Hooters is used more as an adjective than a possessive. Although, I`m sure that Hooters believes they own their girls. Gag!! Hope that helps, though. :) Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Susan Malaise I would just put Hooters without the apostrophe. Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Beth McKenna Just Hooters Girls.....they`re not describing possession.... Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Cynthia Daniels I agree with Kelly. I think it`s the fact that it ends in an S is causing the confusion. If it was just Hooter, they would say Hooter girl. Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||

| Jennifer Tow Hulbert I agree with everyone, but what I want to know is this: How did this one come up?? Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Veronica Gutierrez I agree. No apostrophe. These are the days of our lives. LOL Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Kelly Reiter @Jennifer, probably a sexual harassment lawsuit ... ;) Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Linda Sabor I agree, Hooters girls.The way I do it is replace it with something without an S, such as Burger King. You would say Burger King girls without an apostrophe. See?? Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Mindy Wolf-Cominiello Okay. I used to be one (gasp!) and after starting court reporting sometimes wish I still was! Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| George Ricci Correct, you wouldn`t say Broncos` Cheerleaders Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Deb Mokszycke I love the subject matter and comments on this site! ; ) Maybe because I can so relate! Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Vicki Jelley I think Hooters girls or Hooters` girls would both be correct. I wouldn`t dash it out, though. That would look funky. Nobody will call you on it. They`ll be too embarassed. Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Susan Capobianco the possessive sounds right to be. Whose girls? Hooters` girls. Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| Jacky Murphy Ouellette Definitely Hooters` girls. Saturday, December 04, 2010 | ||
| John Fahrenwald Yep. Hooters has the `s` already so Hooters` girls makes it possessive. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 | ||
